If you want to go to Fraser Island, I don’t recommend anyone to hire a car in this establishment. The person in charge (the owner, we suppose) treats you like rubbish. They don’t give you a good service to customers. They charge for things you haven’t used. We felt humiliated, apart from having lost half a day in Hervey Bay.
We arrived in Safari 4w drive at 14:30 on a Thursday to get to Fraser Island the following day. They were supposed to give us the car that day before than 15:00 as it was in the mail sent. After having been waiting there for 2 hours with no information, they told us that our car hadn’t been given back yet. We asked for some explanations and the person in charge got angry and said that if we continued like that he will throw us out from his establishment. All because we told him we thought it was unfair that he charged us for that day as we wouldn’t be using the car. He answered –as an excuse- that they normally give the car the day before just for courtesy. In conclusion, after being there for nearly 3 hours, wasting time, because no-one gave us any information we left empty handed. In consequence we didn’t have the car to go to our hotel, or for dinner that night, and didn’t have the car to go to buy food for Fraser (which is a must). There was a person in the company though, that gave us the induction course to go to Fraser, that was very nice and he really helped us out and we thank him for that.

Appart from that Fraser is an excellent Island and very worth visiting. But for your sake, find another company to get there.
